Ecological Spirituality Prayer

May the cosmic Christ whose healing presence

fills the universe and works to reconcile all things,

help us to discern the presence of Wisdom in creation,

to celebrate her wondrous impulses

and to discover the ways she reveals for us to be agents of Christ in healing our planet.

Amen.

Sky Sunday – Crafers

The response to “For the wonders of your creation” is “we give you thanks and praise”

We give thanks for the beauty and abundance of the earth that lies beneath the glorious skies.
We remember as children, lying back and staring in wonder at the ever changing visions in the clouds.
Staring so long into the blue that we could see the stars beyond.
Give us and all peoples grace to live in harmony with your creation, wisdom and generosity in our use of its bounty.

“For the wonders of your creation”
“we give you thanks and praise”

We give thanks for the pure, clean air we breathe.
Give wisdom to those who have responsibility and authority in every land, that we may preserve our fragile environment, and work together in trust.

“For the wonders of your creation”
“we give you thanks and praise”

We give thanks for the sunshine and for the rain.
Blessing the land and providing food and water for its peoples.
Grant that we may learn to live in peace and shared prosperity, to honour one another that all may be enriched by the blessing of the sky, and freed from despair, poverty and hunger.

“For the wonders of your creation”
“we give you thanks and praise”

We give thanks for the good news of salvation for all people.
Strengthen us for our work in the world,
Unite in the truth all who confess your name, that our light may also shine brightly.
As the sun shines so brightly in the sky, illuminating all that is good and bringng light and warmth to our home, so may we also illuminate the dark corners of this world with your reflected love.

“For the wonders of your creation”
“we give you thanks and praise”

We give thanks for the fellowship of the communities in which we live and work.
We move like stars and planets, in and out of each other’s orbit.
Strengthen us to become a positive influence on all those we meet; our families, those with whom we work and learn, our neighbours and our friends.
Enable us by the drawing power of your Spirit to live in love for you and for one another.

“For the wonders of your creation”
“we give you thanks and praise”

We give thanks that you are the God who brings light in the day and stars and moon in the night.
As the moon reflects the brightness of the sun, so let us be a true reflection your love.
To comfort and heal, we pray, all who are in sorrow, need, sickness, or any other trouble.
Give to those who care for them wisdom, patience and gentleness and, to us all, your peace.

“For the wonders of your creation”
“we give you thanks and praise”

Most loving God, you have promised to hear us when we pray.
“Grant that what we have asked in faith, we may by your grace recieve.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord”

Amen

The response to “Lord in your mercy” is “Hear our prayer”

Let us pray for the Earth

Lord, your creation is wondrous and delicate
You have entrusted us to care for it
Now, in the midst of winter
we see both the strength and the weakness
in the beauty of the delicate native iris flowers
their tender blooms protected
by strong, study leaves.
That pop up in surprising places
to gladden our hearts.
Help us to see the delicate beauties of our world
And fill us with the desire
To care for it as you have entrusted us.

Holy Spirit, come with your healing power;
Precious Spirit
Gift of Christ,
Fill us with us God’s love
and give us strength in our weakness.

“Lord in your mercy”
“Hear our prayer”

Let us pray for the the world and for all people

Lord, you wrap us all
with your love,
with with your mighty, gentle arms
you carry us
like a strong and tender parent,
setting us on our feet
to be your own
as free, mature and joyful daughters and sons.

Now, in our weakness, we pray to you
because we know cannot come through life’s troubles unscathed
Yet we also know that
with souls and bodies stressed and strained,
we cannot meet each other’s needs
without your Holy Spirit
to give us the strength we,
in our weakness
so desperately need.

Holy Spirit, come with your healing power;
Precious Spirit
Gift of Christ,
Fill us with us God’s love
and give us strength in our weakness.

“Lord in your mercy”

Stengenthen our church
Strengthen us to share
your good news
That we might give your strength

and give us strength in our weakness.

“Lord in your mercy”

We join our prayers to the prayers of Christ
for those we know who are ill or troubled,
and for all your suffering children
who are beyond our reach
we know that all are brought home to your heart
in the prayers of Christ
and in the silent intercessions of your Spirit,
who comes from your deep heart to ours,
and returns again to you with all our deepest longings.

Holy Spirit, come with your healing power;
Precious Spirit
Gift of Christ,
Fill us with us God’s love
and give us strength in our weakness.

THE RESPONSE TO “Lord, in your mercy” IS “hear our prayer”

Lord God, thank you for welcoming us in love. Hear us as we pray for the church, the world and for all in physical, emotional or spiritual need.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Faithful God, we thank you for our church leaders and we pray for all who preach your word, inspire us, lead us and grow us as disciples, encouraging us to reach out to all those in need in our communities and in our world.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

God of every land and nation, you spoke your word and revealed your love for all creation through Jesus Christ. We pray now for our troubled world, its peoples and their leaders.
We pray especially for those caught up in war, violence and hatred; especially the innocent victims of these evils.
May we work together with You to see peace abound and righteousness flourish, opposing injustice and the wrongs of humankind.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Lord of Life, although we are sometimes separated in many ways from the people we live amongst, we long to see your will done here on earth as it is in heaven. We pray for our neighbours and our families, day by day, moment by moment. Help us to show your abundant love by the way that we love them.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Abundant God, be with those of us that desire and need your restoration and healing. As we remember the way your son Jesus Christ cast out demons we remember today all those who live in sadness and especially those struggling with depression and mental illness. Today, we ask for your blessing and healing touch upon those who we name now in our hearts….

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Merciful Lord, your love reaches beyond the grave. At the end of our days on earth, be with us and be with those we love. May those who have gone before us rest in your eternal peace. We remember before you those who have died and we pray for all whose life is saddened by the death of a loved one, be with them in their loneliness….

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Lord God we pray for ourselves; as we start the week ahead, we ask that in all we do, we may we walk more closely with you at our side safe in the knowledge that your love and care knows no bounds.

Most loving God, you have promise to hear us when we pray:
Grant that what we have asked in faith we may by your grace receive.

Amen
