It may not look too impressive yet, but the square hole in the ground, on the lawn between the church and the hall at the Crafers Church of the Epiphany, is just the beginning!
This is the new home for our lovely old bell, which you can see sitting looking forlorn on the ground just behind the hedge, and in just a few short weeks it will look like this (click to see a bigger image) >>>
Architect and Crafers parishioner, John Hales, created the inspired design for the new bell tower and after months of fundraising this project is finally underway.
Building has been slightly delayed due to the soggy ground and high rainfall at Crafers in the past few weeks, but progress is clearly happening.
When finished, the bell tower will look like the drawing below, also by John.
Who will be the first to ring the bell?
Raffle tickets for this privilege are still available.
