Eagle Lectern 1905

Crafes Church - Eagle Lectern

FROM: The Register Wednesday 23 August 1905 (Adelaide newspaper in print 1901 – 1929)

There is on view in Messrs. A. W. Dobbie & Co.’s establishment, Gawler place,  a handsome brass eagle lectern, which has been, made by that firm to the order of the Rev. F. H. Stokes, Church of the Epiphany, Crafers.
It stands 6 ft. high, and the eagle, with outstretched wings, is poised on a globe representing the world, which surmounts the pedestal.
The lectern is beautifully proportionate, and is most imposing in every respect.
The eagle looks natural and noble.
It is one of the best pieces of ecclesiastical brasswork that has been manufactured in the State.

Peace Chapel Window 1914

In 1914 a stained glass window was installed at the Crafers Church of the Epiphany.

The article below is from “The Register”, a South Australian newspaper of the time.

The window is situated over the Peace Chapel at the back of the church.

It was dedicated to Henry Archibald Price who lived on Waverley Ridge in Tutuila.
His granddaughter, Mrs P E (Betty) Lewis (nee Price), recently died in March 2012 at the age of 94.
Betty and her late husband Bob Lewis, were frequent parishioners of this church when they lived in their retirement years at Mt George in Bridgewater.
R B (Bob) Lewis was a wonderful man, and the son of Essington Lewis, a mining engineer of note, having been one of the founding ‘giants’ of BHP.
